링글 화상영어 10회차 솔직 후기 & 피드백 복습

링글 수업 10회차 후기

생각보다 튜터가 복불복이다. 

어떤 튜터는 정말 세세하게 피드백을 주고 어떤 튜터는 피드백이 적다. 

튜터의 성향에 따라서 문장 재구조 해주는 거에 탁월한 분이 있고

그냥 대화가 편한 분이 있다. 

여러 튜터를 만나보면서 자기 스타일에 맞는 사람이랑 하는게 최선이다. 

 

전화영어와 비교해서 화상영어가 더 낫냐.

아이비리그 출신의 튜터가 더 낫냐. 

아직까지는 엄청나게 체감하지는 못한다. 

링글이 가격적인 부담도 있어 매일 할 수는 없는데 드문드문해서 이거 늘려나 싶다. 

그러나 분명한 것은 링글이라는 플랫폼을 내가 잘 활용한다면

영어실력이 정말 많이 늘겠구나라는 건 체감할 수 있다. 

AI 튜터님 틀린게 많아스 힘드시쥬😶‍🌫️

AI 튜터 분석에서 내가 일상적으로 잦게 하는 실수가 무엇인지 다 알려준다. 

인간 튜터(!) 분석에서는 아래처럼 내 문장을 더 세련되고 현지인들이 쓰는 표현으로 고쳐준다.

생전 처음 보는 표현과 중딩 영어에 머물러 있는 문장 구조를 다양하게 만들어주어 자꾸 읽어봐야겠다는 생각이 든다. 

 

오늘의 수업 후기

 

If I could work with collaborative and responsible colleagues, I would prefer to work on a team. However, in my work, I have encountered many free riders. Now, I prefer to work independently on projects because I can control the schedule and plan by myself.

 

Kristin's Comment
"Collaborative" and "responsible" both are more thorough and specific descriptors compared to good. They also better describe the actual qualities being implied.

 

 

If I were to work at home, I would be distracted by preparing food or cleaning the house. For example, some of my friends, who work remotely, have told me that the work hour flies by when they are at home since they complete other miscellaneous tasks instead of working.

Kristin's Comment
"For example" helps us introduce supporting evidence for our claim. "Flies by" is a metaphoric device to describe how time passes quickly. "Miscellaneous" is a colorful word to add to one's vocabulary and appears. "Instead of" helps introduce us contrast two concepts.

It is possible that each team member has a different view of what is an acceptable final product. For example, when I opened someone's final draft of a presentation, the slides were blank with only two sentences. They claimed that they did their best, which frustrated me as I had already put hours of effort into my portion of the project. I want to tell them my opinion but I fear they could take my constructive criticism as hatred.

 

Kristin's Comment
"It is possible" introduces a hypothetical explanation. "Frustrated" is an alternate adjective to help vary up expressions, rather than just using "upset," and introduce a specific and more fitting emotion. "Constructive criticism" is a term that encapsulates giving helpful critique.

When I was in college, I encountered free riders frequently. When joining clubs, I found team players who were motivated to take action on their own. However, in class group projects, most of my teammates were free riders. Now, at my job, I lead others, which requires extra energy and time.

Kristin's Comment
"Encountered" is a more specific verb to describe the action taking place. It is also in the correct test for the sentence. "However" and "now" helps the listener/reader to clearly keep track of the time and connects the sentences' ideas.

 

 

 I have the opportunity to experience diverse work environments because my company has a policy that states members must move to other teams within three years. In the past, I have organized exhibitions and worked in business administration. Now, I am working in the Public Relation team.

Kristin's Comment
"I have the opportunity" eludes to the fact that what is being discussed is positive since the sentence covers positive aspects of the job. "Organized" and "worked" are highlighted because since these actions occurred in the past, they should be in past-tense.

 

I am fortunate enough to experience and interact with new technology and new industries. Normally, companies show new products at exhibitions or conferences but I am able to learn about these new products simply by going to work.

 

Kristin's Comment
"Fortunate" is an alternate adjective that sums up the positive feeling of being able to experience these opportunities. "Simply by" is a phrase that can be used to explain that with little effort, you are able to do ____.

 

Each individual should complete their assigned tasks. Ownership of responsibility is a core characteristic required of team players. Team players keep their deadlines without sacrificing the quality of their work. Free riders take advantage of the group and burden other members with their laziness.

 

Kristin's Comment
"Complete" and "assigned" help communicate the same idea but with a more formal tone and more succinctly. "Take advantage" and "burden" are both specific verbs that more concisely and accurately express what free riders do.

 

The efficiency of working at home would be worse compared to in-person as one can be easily distracted. However, working remotely could prevent wasting time in traffic every day.

 

Kristin's Comment
"Compared" is a verb that helps us contrast two options. "However" helps us introduce a contradicting piece of evidence and relate it to the first sentence.
